American Doula Academy wants this website to work for every aspiring doula who visits it, including people who use assistive technology.
Our commitment
We are working toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are the standard we design and build against.
Our goal is to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA across this website. We are working toward that goal rather than claiming we have reached it. No formal audit has been carried out, and we are not stating conformance.
Accessibility is part of how the site is built, not a step added at the end. When we learn that something falls short, we treat it as a defect and fix it.
What this page is
A plain description of the standard we aim for, the choices we have made so far, and the ways you can tell us when something gets in your way.
It is not a certificate, an audit result, or a conformance statement.

What we have built into the site so far
These are the practical choices behind the pages you are reading.
Semantic structure
Pages are built with real headings, lists, and landmarks so screen readers can announce the structure instead of guessing at it.
Keyboard navigation
Links, buttons, and expandable sections are designed to be reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, in a sensible order.
Visible focus
The element you have tabbed to is meant to be clearly outlined, so you never lose your place on a page.
Colour contrast
Text and background colours are chosen for contrast, and colour is never the only way meaning is conveyed.
Reduced-motion support
If your device asks for reduced motion, the site is built to respect that preference and hold back non-essential movement.
Responsive layouts
Pages reflow for small screens and for zoomed-in text, so content stays readable without side-to-side scrolling.
Known limitations
Where we still have work to do
This website is under active development while American Doula Academy prepares to open enrollment. Pages are still being written, and some are still being revised, so barriers we have not found yet may exist.
We also cannot control how outside websites behave. When a link takes you to another organisation, that site sets its own accessibility practices.
